This period is considered the peak safari season in Amboseli. The weather is typically dry and vegetation is sparse. This makes it comfortable for wildlife viewing and outdoor activities. Additionally, the visibility of Mount Kilimanjaro is usually better during these months.

Being the busiest months in the park, expect crowds and large numbers of vehicles. Accommodation may also be in high demand and there is a need to book in advance. Visitors are few during the short dry season of January to March, making it a suitable time for those who prefer a quiet experience.

November to December and March to May are wet seasons in Amboseli. During these seasons, landscapes are green and lush. Many migratory bird species arrive in the park which makes it an excellent period for birdwatching. Newborn animals are often seen during these wet months.

Entrance fees

The Kenya Wildlife Service determines the park entry fees. Kenyan citizens and those residing in the country with valid documents from the Kenyan Government pay a daily fee of Ksh. 860 for adults and 215 for children (3 to 18 years old).

Non-residents (visitors from other countries with valid visas and travel documents pay $60 USD for adults and $30 USD for children. Payments can be made at the park’s entrance or via eCitizen for registered Kenyan citizens. Camping fee is paid separately and it varies from one facility to another.
